Over its thirty-six year history, TCNE has performed a rich diversity of choral music with programming that includes opera and professional collaborations. Serving young people from over 35 diverse communities, TCNE has achieved many significant artistic milestones.
Weekly rehearsals and theory classes prepare our students by teaching and building teamwork, encouraging, confidence, and fostering creativity. Our choirs have performed with, and have shared Boston’s Symphony Hall stage with, many Boston-area choruses. TCNE has commissioned many works and has participated in domestic and international exchanges. Recent tours have included destinations such as New York, England, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Austria, and Italy.
In keeping with its goal of educating new audiences, our “Hands on Opera!” cast performs an educational program annually. In November, Hansel and Gretel was performed for 600 students in the Andover Schools. It was an adapted, fully staged and costumed opera presentation. The success of these performances is a tribute to the enthusiasm and talents of our TCNE members.
